Greeting us as we let in the light
watching in the darkness
as we shut out the night.
~
Bare in winter, yet, possessing still;
in summer welcome shade,
and early autumn, heavy with fruit.
~
But spring is the season you bloom,
flush with leaves and gentle blossom,
alive with birdsong and the hum of bees.
~
Oh, how we love you, our apple tree.

Wonderful piece!
Hello and thank you so much for your kind comment! I am pleased you like this poem…I have been feeling a little uninspired for the last few days but nature always gives me reason to write
: )
I miss my old flowering friends from our previous place, but not enough to want to go back. We’re working on getting new friends started at the new place.
Good to hear you are happy in your new place…hope those new friends are blooming soon : )
such a gorgeous photograph. and it brings back memories of the apple tree at my childhood home and all those pies…
Thanks, Amanda! Oh yes pies…my mum makes the best apple pies…I, not so good with pastry, opt for making crumbles : )
Another gorgeous photo and equally gorgeous sentiment of words.
Thanks Ellie! Lost my mojo a bit but it’s returning…slowly : )
I’m always losing mine too Jane – it’s here one minute, gone the next and I’m never sure when it might return. I often feel that a rest is as good as a change, so to speak!
So nice!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much!! : )
I love this! Wonderful photo and lovely words. We have an apple tree in bloom right now as well! She has begun to shed her white petals in the wind, in a way akin to snowfall. Trees! ❤ ❤ ❤
Thanks Angie! Apple trees…well trees in general, are poetic things aren’t they? J xxx
