Disrobed

…

You disrobed me

stripped me naked

just flesh, bone

and fear.

I wanted to run

and never stop

to the ends of the earth

and scream

where no-one could hear me.

I wanted to rewind,

shout liar

until my lungs burst;

rip you out

with my bare hands.

And when you were gone;

I felt relief,

anger, loss

and hope.

Life with all its beauty

and pain; magnified.

You disrobed me

but you did not take me.

The almost sound of silence

Wrapped in those quiet times

between dark and light

with you held close;

sleeping

and me, tired, but still awake

in the almost sound of silence.

Your tiny breaths,

in and out,

and my heart beating;

filled to the brim.

The almost sound of silence

that sat, sometimes,

on the brink of lonely,

but for you,

and your milky cheeks

and your clutching fingers

wrapped round mine.

You needing me

and me needing you

These memories

Held in powerful form

As though they still live

In the bright sunshine

Where they first were

Love for these days

Spent in this place

Of childhood dreams

With carpet of soft green

And canopy of verdant branch.

The water

Licking lily feet

While underneath

Rocks smooth and age worn.

The dark banks

Hiding small creatures’ lives

Spotted fleetingly

And we in this other life

Pointing with excited words.

The woods downstream

Deep and cool; numinous

In an Enid Blyton mind

Explored voraciously

With soft cheek wonder.

Then, with nature flowing through our veins

We would travel home

The smell of the sun on our skin

And the feeling that

The world was good.

Reverence

When words evade me

 there is always this;

creativity at its best…

reverence to Mother Nature.

Like the weather, I am having a dry spell…lots of thoughts, lots of writing, but nothing I would want to share (or you would want to read).

For now I will enjoy the sunshine, and hopefully, normal service will resume shortly.

Unstitch

Sometimes, I have written a whole piece,

happily stitching the words onto the page,

only to realise I was using the wrong thread.

So, I unstitch, re-thread the needle and start again.

~

Writing isn’t easy, but this constant stitching and unstitching of words will one day, I hope, make me a better writer.
