These memories
Held in powerful form
As though they still live
In the bright sunshine
Where they first were
~
Love for these days
Spent in this place
Of childhood dreams
With carpet of soft green
And canopy of verdant branch.
~
The water
Ice against the day’s heat
Licking lily feet
While underneath
Rocks smooth and age worn.
~
The dark banks
Hiding small creatures’ lives
Spotted fleetingly
And we in this other life
Pointing with excited words.
~
The woods downstream
Deep and cool; numinous
In an Enid Blyton mind
Explored voraciously
With soft cheek wonder.
~
Then, with nature flowing through our veins
We would travel home
The smell of the sun on our skin
And the feeling that
The world was good.

This is so beautiful. You words drew my senses in. I love the last part. So wonderful, the restorative power of nature. ❤
Thanks so much Angie! This was truly a special place in my childhood and we have visited with my son, often : )
and just like that, dry spell over and lovely words flowing!
So glad Amanda…I hate it when the words get stuck! No cure for that at the chemist…just time I guess!!! : )
My, my… you are on a roll now *chuckles* – you’re just getting better and better. I love your moody photo with the light rippling over the flowing water. More beautiful words too, taking me back to days of endless sunny childhood summers. ❤ ❤
Ellie, you are very kind, thank you!! Maybe the dry spells are necessary to recharge our creative batteries? xx
Speaking of lovely photographs. 🙂
