Trees…

…that’s what today’s ‘windy’ walk was all about.

I knew we needed some fresh air but boy has it been windy today! We left it until later, as I thought it would die down a little, but it didn’t, so despite the wind we ventured out into the park nearby and I took some photos of the trees there.

I don’t know what it is about trees, they are just there I suppose and maybe people don’t really think about them, but they are amazing aren’t they? So big and so part of the earth. Trees make me feel safe, like they will always be there, even when I am not anymore. Do you know what I mean? I am sounding like an old hippy aren’t I?

Anyway, I hope you had a lovely weekend and are looking forward to your week ahead, whatever it may hold.

It’s been raining all day…

…but I don’t care to be honest. Not that I wouldn’t rather it were sunny, but I have got loads done, and feel really pleased about it. I have had another good week, the positive thinking seems to be doing the trick!

I have a freshly decorated bedroom thanks to my husband. He has a really bad back, so it is extra good of him to have worked so hard, and it looks great!

Hoping to get a bit of making done this weekend, if I can, and spending time with my family.

Nearly two weeks in…

…and this New Year is still feeling positive!

How has your first (nearly) two weeks of 2012 been? Really great I hope. Do you have big plans for this year or are you just happy to coast along? Either sounds good to me!

I don’t have any major plans really, I just want this to be a happy and positive year with lots of laughing and good times, relaxation and time spent with the people I love.

A little poem…

Today I smiled, and all at once things didn’t look so bad. Today I shared with someone else, a bit of hope I had. Today I sang a little song, and felt my heart grow light, and walked a happy little mile, with not a cloud in sight.

Today I worked with what I had and longed for nothing more. And what had seemed like only weeds, were flowers at my door. Today I loved a little more and complained a little less. And in the giving of myself, I forgot my weariness.

Hope you enjoy reading this, it just has such a lovely sentiment, don’t you think?

I am going to like this year

2011 has gone by like a blur to be perfectly honest, lots happened and nothing much happened, that is what it felt like.

Work was frankly a bit shitty, not the actual work or the people, just have we got a job, haven’t we kind of stuff. Home has just seemed for want of a better explanation, a bit disjointed. I have cried too much in 2011 and feel like I wasn’t totally there a lot of the time, which is unlike me. I have bottled it all up which has led to me feeling like another person, an angrier person.

As the Christmas decorations came down today and were packed away in their box I felt ready for this new, fresh, clean year. I am not making any resolutions and I am not changing anything in particular (apart from being more organised), I am just going to be more happy and less somewhere else, like I felt I was last year.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am making last year sound hideous and it wasn’t at all. I just think a lot of things shifted in a different direction and I haven’t managed to catch up with them yet, but I know I will. I feel the need to sit back and take it all in, stop worrying so much and just learn to be.

I feel like a lot of relationships changed in 2011, one friendship ended entirely, which made me feel really sad for a while. But you know, that’s life isn’t it and no matter how hard you try sometimes things just aren’t meant to be.

So this is me in 2012, I am going to be positive and not try to sort things that cannot be sorted. Life is so damn short isn’t it!

I hope you have entered this new year feeling happy and positive and I hope that 2012 is everything you want it to be!

Today I went to see…

Hugo… and what can I say? This film made me feel like no film has made me feel in years… overwhelmed. Seriously people (for those who haven’t seen it) it is simply one of the most beautiful cinematic wonders you will ever witness. I feel inspired, overwhelmed, happy, so sad, I don’t know how I feel, it was just wonderful and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I want to watch it again… NOW.

It is billed as a children’s film, and my son loved it, but it is SO an adult’s film too! Everyone in it is perfectly cast, the 3D is fantastic, it has restored my faith in humanity, it is simply two hours of time perfectly well spent. Go see… now… really… you need to!

Christmas wishes…

…to one and all!

Well the big day is almost here folks. Just a few more presents to wrap here and then I can relax (a little). Tomorrow we are off to meet friends in Beverley for a carol service and then lunch, which should really get us in the Christmas spirit! Then a visit to my mum and dad’s house as my brother and family are here for Christmas. I will be cooking Christmas lunch (my poor family!) and I am actually looking forward to it.

Whatever your Christmas plans are I truly hope you have a wonderful and relaxing day with lots of sprouts and sherry and a nod on the sofa, of course.

…mince pies.

Tonight my lovely neighbour and friend asked if I would like some of her mince pies and before she even finished the sentence I had said yes. Seriously folks her mince pies are THE nicest I have ever eaten and I have eaten a lot of mince pies let me tell you (wipes crumbs from face). Its her pastry, the topping she puts on, it’s just the whole delicious thing, and I look forward to them every year.

So thank you Katie and here’s to many more years of friendship and many more mince pies!

Well, now the mince pies are doing the rounds and we have watched Elf, Christmas spirit has been fully installed!
